Are you having trouble filling your pipeline? Are you not attracting enough prospects? If you answered yes to both questions, then you want to make sure that you have the five essentials in place to not only attract prospects, but to grow your business as well. So what are the five essentials?

Description of services-Are your prospects clear about what type of services you offer? For example, if you are a coach, what types of coaching programs do you offer? Do you offer individual coaching or group coaching or both? Are there other services that you offer? What will the client get or achieve with a particular service? Be specific.

Ideal Client Profile-What type of clients do you serve? What are some of their characteristics? What problem do they have that you can solve? How much money do they typically make? Are they usually married or single? What age group do they fall into? Be specific.

10-second introduction-Okay, so this is just another way of saying “elevator speech”. If you were on an elevator and a complete stranger says, “Please tell me what you do before I reach my floor.” What would you say? Would they know who you serve and what problem you solve? Would they know the benefits of working with you? These are the questions that must be answered in those 10 seconds. Be specific.

Business Cards- This is a must if you are going to be networking; which you should be doing if you are going to fill your pipeline. There is no excuse for not having your business cards. If you are reading this and don’t have any ordered, stop right now and go to www.vistaprint.com or www.gotprint.com and order them right away. The only things you will need to have on them are: your business name/logo, your name, your web address, phone and email address and maybe a tagline (this is optional). That’s it!

Website-Okay…you may have heard that you don’t need a website to start making money and that may be true. However, most people will not take you seriously unless you have a web presence. When I first started my business, the first thing people would say is, “Sounds great, where can I find your website?” Of course I didn’t have one at the time and it deeply affected my confidence as an entrepreneur. So… if you don’t have a website, get one. There are a many sites where you can get one for free. The top two free website builders are WordPress (my recommendation) and Intuit. You just have to pay for your domain name and hosting (usually around $30). So…get going.

If you are reading this and realize you are missing one or more of the essentials, then ask yourself, “What can I do today to get it?” Also, you may have noticed my emphasis on being specific. This is because, the more specific you are, the more likely you are to attract your ideal clients. Makes sense?

One of my biggest challenges as a coach is getting a client to act. Sometimes, it’s like pulling teeth! By the time a prospective client contacts me they are so fed up with themselves that they decide to reach out for help. From there, we start our coaching relationship, create an action plan and prepare to move forward, but sometimes a client will freeze. I had one client that had been procrastinating on a goal for over three weeks. No matter what I said or did, she would give me one excuse after another. For a coach, this can be quite discouraging. Most coaches are in their field because they have a genuine desire to serve and help others. The last thing we want to do is waste a person’s time and money.

Okay, so back to my client. We will call her June. So, June had excuses for days. As her coach, I quickly realized that she had become paralyzed by fear. When this happens, your mind takes over and you begin to try to justify what you are trying to do. Next thing you know, you are in a vortex of confusion! Aaagh! How uncomfortable, right? Well, what do you think I told her? I said, “June, take a deep breath and submit the application.” Guess what she did? Five minutes later she contacted me and told me that she did it. She was so proud of herself and I was so happy for her! She had planted the seed that she needed to move forward. Now, did you peep what technique I had used to get my client to act? You’re right! It was conscious breathing! Some people call it rebirthing and it’s a simple technique proven to heal suppressed emotions like anger, fear and sadness.

It is the number one technique used in hospitals when a mother is giving birth and the fastest way to overcome fear. I remember when I was in labor with my son. I was terrified! All sorts of things were going through my mind and I was afraid of what was going to happen. To keep me calm, everyone including my family and friends would remind me to breathe. At the time, the constant reminder got on my nerves. Hello? I was in pain! But still I did what I was told and guess what? It totally worked. So…what can conscious breathing do for you even when you are not in labor? Please see the following:

-Release unstuck energy.

-Eliminate old patterns of thought.

-Allow your body to take over and get you out of your own way.

-Allow your mind to take a break from the stress.

-Allow you to access many dimensions, thoughts and feelings.

-Help you to release negative emotions.

So…if your are stuck in your business or in life due to fear, anger, lack of self-confidence, limited beliefs, etc., then STOP… take a few breaths and proceed with action.

In today’s day and age just about everyone has at least one social media account ranging from Facebook to YouTube. If you are a business owner, it’s almost necessary to get involved with social media to increase your visibility, promote your brand and connect with potential and current clients. Before we get into increasing your visibility, let’s look at some quick facts:

-There are over 465 million Twitter accounts
-There are over 850 million active users on Facebook
-Two people sign up for a LinkedIn account every second
-YouTube is the 3rd most visited site according to Alexa
-Pinterest is the fastest site in history to break through the 10 million unique visitor mark and receives over 11 million visits per week

So, now that you have learned a few quick facts about some of the top social media sites in the world, let’s get on with the juicy stuff. In order to increase your visibility by utilizing social media, consider some of the following ways:

1. Incorporate social media into your website. You can do this by adding buttons like the Re-tweet, Facebook likes, Google+ share and Pinterest buttons. You can also add Facebook comments to your blog post and a Facebook like box that links to your Fanpage.
2. Post regularly to Facebook. What I mean by regularly is 5-10 times per week. If you post more than that you risk being “unliked” due to too frequent postings. You can post anything from an article that you wrote on your blog to a family picture that you recently took. Whatever it is don’t just make it about business, post a little something about you.
3. Get involved with LinkedIn groups. Whenever I hear someone mention the networking aspect of LinkedIn, I usually hear the word “powerful.” Don’t just sign up for an account, get involved. My suggestion would be to start with groups where your target audience hangs out and go from there.
4. Got Pinterest? Create pins. The more pins you create the more visibility you get. TIP: Pinterest is a great social media platform if most of your target audience consists of women between the ages of 25-34.
5. Sign up for your own YouTube channel. It’s free and easy to set up. Many mompreneurs utilize YouTube by posting 1 minute how-to videos. This has proven to not only increase visibility, but position you as an expert and draw traffic back to your website. YouTube will automatically make you a triple-threat!
6. Join Google Plus. This platform comes with SEO rankings, and the integration of Gmail and Google Search Plus Your World. Just having a page will put you up there in Google’s search engine! Add friends and colleagues to your circles to maximize your exposure.
7. Start following people on Twitter. The cool thing about Twitter is that you don’t have to wait for people to find you. You can seek out industry experts, colleagues, mentors, etc. and start following them. The Twitter rule-of-thumb is if you follow me, then I’m likely to follow you. TIP: I know it’s tempting, but be careful about following too many celebrities. They are not likely to follow you back and this could hurt your following to followers ratio. If that happens, you would be temporarily banned from following others until your list of followers increases.
8. List yourself with Twellow. This is the yellow pages for Twitter. As of today, there are over 28 million people registered. Sign up is quick, easy and free and makes it easier for people to find you. You will also be required to enter a few “keywords” that describe your business, services and interests. TIP: Use Twellow to search for others and build your following.

When I first started my business, I use to wonder why do some coaches easily attract clients and keep their practices full while others struggle just to get by. I thought it was a big secret that only successful coaches shared among themselves and that only a select few knew about. But then I soon realized that EVERY SINGLE ONE of those coaches, who kept their practices full, commonly used one thing. Can you guess what that one thing is? Yep, you got it! They used their most powerful, God-given instrument…their voice! Using your voice is the fastest way to implement the know-like-trust factor. I know what you are thinking. Public Speaking! Oh no! “I’d rather give birth to quadruplets…naturally, than speak in front of the audience.” LOL….relax. There are so many other ways to get your voice out there than just on a stage. Now that the secret’s out the bag, let’s look at some of the top ways to get your voice heard, attract new clients and grow your business:

-conducting teleseminars/webinars

-hosting a meeting

-blogging

-conducting an in-person or virtual workshop

-writing articles

-serving on a Panel

-writing a book

-participating in online forums

-commenting on blogs

-creating videos

-speaking on stage

As you can see there are many ways to use your voice to attract clients to you, but speaking is not enough. You need a strategy. So, if you are interested in using speaking as a platform to build your business, check out some of my tips below:

Be clear. No matter who your audience is, they should know exactly what you are about, what type of clients you help and how you help them.

Know your purpose. Are you speaking to grow your list? Sell your latest product? Fill your practice? Whatever the reason is, have a purpose and a goal in mind.

Get out there! Create your first video. Offer to do a webinar for a joint-venture partner. Ask if you can conduct a workshop with your local Chamber of Commerce. Write that book that you have been putting off for years. Whatever you decide to do, take action!

Keep perfecting your skills. In other words, “stay trained up”. Join your local Toastmaster’s group. Work with a coach, take a presentation class. Heck…you don’t even have to leave your house. You can watch successful speakers via YouTube. Write down what you liked about them, what you didn’t like and follow along with their outline to get a good idea of how to structure what you want to say.

Speaking is a great way to attract clients and grow your practice quickly. If you have any questions about how you can use your voice to grow your business, simply send me an email at info@unstoppablemoms.net.

As a business coach, I spend a lot of time with my clients helping them to clarify their niche or target market. When I first started my business, people would ask me, “Why are you just targeting moms, why not target everyone and maximize your income potential?” The answer to that is simple! I don’t have a marketing budget to target over 6 billion people. What do you think came next? Yep, that’s right; silence! Let’s face it. Even large corporations have a target market. Gatorade targets athletes, Lexus targets wealthy, middle-aged consumers and Starbucks target the working professional between 25-40. Every successful company has a target market that they vibe with, provide the most value to and can profit from.

By targeting a specific niche you are able to:

-Effectively connect and communicate with your target market
-Stand out in your market by positioning yourself as an expert in your field
-Easily convert prospects into paying clients
-Create valuable products and services
-Prevent overwhelm and gain clarity

Some examples of niche markets are:

A pet sitting company that targets Executives who travel a lot
A nutrition expert that works with future brides who desire to lose weight before the big day
A book editing company for authors who self-publish

So, how can you determine which niche is best for you? Below are some questions to help you with the process?

-What type of client would provide you with the most enjoyment and satisfaction?
-Who needs your services the most?
-Who is able to pay the prices for your products or services?
-Whose problems and goals do you care about?
-With what group do you have an established reputation?
-Who is likely to give you repeat business or referrals?

You may also want to familiarize yourself with the four types of niche markets listed below:

Profitable-Individuals in this niche market are aware that they have a problem and are willing to invest in solutions. This is the preferred market and has already proven to invest in similar services and products that you offer.

Simple-This niche is the easiest to find and are linked to specific professions and industries. Examples of this market include organizers, coaches, lawyers, accountants, real estate agents, corporate executives, etc.

Promising-This niche is the second most popular and focuses on individuals who have specific goals and problems, such as, relocating after retirement, dealing with teens, preparing for a wedding , etc. With this niche market it is easy to position yourself as the “go-to” person in your industry.

Difficult-This niche is the hardest to reach and is based on topics like stress management, personal development, nutrition, communication, etc. Because this niche focuses on areas of expertise it will be very difficult to attract enough people to sustain your business. If you determine that you have been operating within this niche, I strongly advise you to change your focus to a specific group of people by profession or industry or on a specific problem or goal.

Remember you are not excluding anyone by targeting a particular community or group. You are not limited yourself or your business; instead you are maximizing your marketing reach within a particular niche market where you can provide the most value.

Once you have identified a niche, your next step is to conduct research to determine your target audiences’ biggest problem. To do this, you can conduct informal interviews with people in your circle that fit your target market, read blog comments, visit forums where your market “hangs out”, or speak with experts who serve your niche in a different way.

Once you have identified your niche’s biggest problem, your next step is to create products and services that offer a solution to their problem and guess what? You now have a profitable service business that provides value to a particular group of people and positions you as the “go-to” person within that market.

Have you ever met someone that has an amazing talent, but instead of capitalizing on it, they rather live a mediocre life working a boring, unfulfilling 9-5 job? Can you imagine a better ball player than Jordan, a better actress than Kathy Bates, a better motivator than Tony Robbins, a better cook than Paula Dean or a better speaker than Oprah? Of course you can! Talented and gifted people are everywhere! Unfortunately, these are the same people who choose not to share their talents with the world simply because they don’t believe in themselves, believe in their talents or believe that they are capable of success. These same beliefs come from a sabotaging mindset that holds many people back from realizing their true potential and achieving unimaginable success. Many of us don’t believe that dreams can come true so we don’t chase them. Instead, we just conform and accept life the way it is. How sad is that? When I was working in ‘cubicle nation’, I was surrounded by people who had amazing gifts but did absolutely nothing with them. Instead, they rather waste their energy complaining about how unfair life is and how much they hate their jobs. Is that any kind of way to live? I think not! So, if you have ever wondered why success happens to others and not you, then consider if you have one or more of the following sabotaging mindsets:

The Limitations Mindset

This is one of the worst mindsets to have. This mindset is like a stop sign. Every time there is an opportunity to grow in some way, you subconsciously stop yourself from moving forward. Have you ever heard someone proclaim, “The sky is the limit?” Well, this is them saying that there is no limit to their success or what they can achieve. What a powerful way to think! People with a limitations mindset believe there is a limit to everything; the amount of people they can serve, the amount of money they can make, the level of success they can achieve, etc. They believe that there is a limit to life and this just isn’t true. Your life is not a credit card, it’s an opportunity.

The Blaming Mindset

I think we all have come across those who blame any and everybody for where they are in life. They blame their lack of success on their childhood, a dysfunctional parent, their environment, their friends, etc. The list can go on and on. You see, people with this type of mindset will ALWAYS find something or someone to blame for THEIR actions and where THEY are in their lives. Having this type of mindset will prevent you from holding yourself accountable. If you don’t hold yourself accountable, then you can’t focus on improving, progressing, growing or moving forward. Have you ever noticed that people with this mindset also seem to go with the flow of things? They don’t know what they are doing from one day to the next and always appear uptight with a chip on their shoulder. That’s because they are stuck in a rut of blaming and not claiming. Claim success today and leave the blames behind. Please repeat after me, “No one has control over my life but me!”

The Entitlement Mindset

First of all, as an adult, you are not entitled to anything. This is another mindset that will get you every time. Usually, individuals with this mindset either grew up with too little or too much and they feel that the world owes them. These individuals sincerely feel that they are entitled to have whatever it is they want simply because they are them! Forget about hard work, sacrifice and setting and achieving goals. They want what they want when they want it and will find the shortest way possible to get it. Yes, individuals with this mindset often look for shortcuts to success and in life. You can find them “marrying rich”, stealing from others or lying their way to the top. Not only is this a sabotaging mindset, but it can get you into a lot of trouble, not to mention the greed and selfishness that comes with it. I’m sure you have heard about individuals who have achieved success, just to lose it because they got greedy. If you have this mindset, get rid of it immediately! Choose a humbled mindset instead.

The Complaining Mindset

Oh Lawd! Boy, do I despise a complainer. Okay, we all do it, but some of us are obsessive complainers. PLEASE NOTE: People who are always complaining will ALWAYS attract what they are complaining about! If you don’t like your job, quit! If you don’t like where you live, move! If you don’t like where your business is at, reevaluate and do something different! But, don’t complain! Complaining keeps you focused on the problem and not the solution. If you are always focused on the problem, it will always be there. I use to work with someone who would complain about our clients. She would often ask, “Why am I always getting the difficult ones?” Well, because you are always talking about them! When you complain you attract what you DON’T want. Don’t be a complainer, be a problem solver instead.

In conclusion, if you have recognized yourself in any of the above sabotaging mindsets; please consider an alternative mindset to adopt instead. It can be done, trust me!

Have you ever been on a job interview where you were asked, “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” Have you ever wondered why they would ask such a question when you are so focused on being in the moment? Well, let’s evaluate what the interviewer is REALLY asking. Basically, they want to know if you have given any thought to your career, whether you are ambitious or lack motivation, if your goals align with where you are trying to go and whether or not you will be committed. As you can see the question is very simple, but your answer will say so much more! This is also the case when starting your business. While you are in the start-up phase, it is very important for you to know where you see yourself and your business in the next five years. Getting clear on your vision will make it easier for you to attract and manifest the success that you want and deserve.

The other day I was listening to a song where they incorporated a skit into it. In the skit someone was asking the artist, “Did you know you would end up where you are at? The artist’s simply answered, “Yes, I envisioned it!” How powerful! Let’s take a moment to visit the definition of a vision. According to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary a vision is: “a thought, concept, or object formed by the imagination; a manifestation to the senses of something immaterial.” Did you catch that? A manifestation! Also, let’s look at the word envision. To envision something is to picture yourself within your vision. So, if your vision is to be a best-selling author on the New York Times bestseller list, envision yourself doing a book signing, asking questions about your book, conducting interviews and seeing your name in the New York Times. The clearer your vision, the more likely you are to manifest the success that you want. So…what are the 4 steps to manifesting success in your business?

1. Get clear about your vision. The best way to do this is to ask the what, where, who, when, why and how questions. To provide you with an example, let’s continue with the New York Times Best seller scenario. What type of book will you write? Where will you do most of your writing? When will you complete your book? Why do you want to be a bestselling author? How will you get on the list? There are so many other questions you can ask yourself, but do you see how you can gain clarity simply by answering what, where, who, when, why and how questions?

2. Recognize the passion behind your vision. This step is important because your passion is connected to your ‘why’. If there is passion behind your vision, then you have the energy to manifest your vision into a reality. So, what are you passionate about? Are you passionate about serving others, leaving a life of financial freedom or being recognized as an expert? Whatever your passion is, recognize it and know your why.

3. Write it down. I can’t stress this enough. I once read that if you are serious about something, you will write it down. What an epiphany! Writing things down increases your memory and places it in your subconscious mind. Once something is in your subconscious mind, you begin to act as if it already happened! Also, just don’t write your vision; write your plan for your vision. I know you heard the saying, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Let me tell you that this is very true. Without a plan, you will eventually become overwhelmed, discouraged and unmotivated. So, if you are serious about manifesting success, put it in writing!

4. Take action. Please repeat after me. “It starts with my vision, grows with my planning and succeeds with my actions.” Say this to yourself, at least once a day and see what happens. Taking action is not only the fastest way to gain clarity, but the ONLY way to success. Even if you don’t have all the answers to your questions, taking consistent action will eventually get you to the place where you envisioned yourself to be. Still not convinced? Consider this saying, “a vision without action is just an illusion.” So, what action steps will you take today?

“Everything we want is on the other side of fear.” –Dr. John Gray

Psst…I have a secret to tell you. Did you know that most people do not pursue their entrepreneurial dreams simply because they have a fear of failure? It’s true! Can you imagine all the potential out there just walking around, but remain untapped due to fear? I can’t. Despite the fact that fear holds many people back, it is not necessarily a bad thing. We all experience fear at some point in our lives. Having fear can prevent you from getting a speeding ticket, giving your money away to a telemarketer or leaving the house without your cell phone. Fear can be healthy and can prevent many unwanted situations, but it does not have to rule your life. We all have heard that fear is just False Evidence Appearing Real. That’s right! You feel fear because you choose to embrace the “what-if” scenario. For example, many moms fear starting their own business because they are afraid that it may affect their family life or that their spouse’s will not support them. Allowing fear to hold you back is like not going to get your mail because you are afraid you may get hit by a car. Sounds silly, doesn’t it? That’s because it is. So instead of running from your fear of failure, run towards it! Below are five ways to work with your fear of failure and not against it:

1. Examine the fear. Ask yourself, “What am I afraid of?”, “Why do I have this fear,” “Is the fear that I’m feeling realistic?” Many people experience fear for various reasons. This could be due to a past negative experience, growing up with fearful parents, or due to someone else’s experience. Are you concerned about what others will think of you? Do you fear being embarrassed in some way? Is your fear more related to success or failure? Whatever the reason is, examine its root cause and determine how you can move forward.

2. Put your fear into perspective. Okay, so let’s say you want to start a business, but you are afraid that no one is going to want your services or products. You are afraid of putting time, energy and money into something without knowing if it will create a profit. I understand that fear, especially since you can’t get your time back. But the chances of NO ONE buying your products or services are pretty slim. According to the United Nations, there are roughly 7 billion people in the world. If you create something of value, whether it’s a product or service and you market it correctly, someone WILL buy it. Believe it!

3. Embrace the fear. This is the best way to work with your fear, not against. Embracing the fear will prevent it from paralyzing you and taking you down a path where you become even more fearful and living your life full of anxiety. For whatever reason, you are going to feel fear from time to time, so learn how to embrace it, accept it and live with it. I don’t mean letting it control you, but you control it!

4. Take action. That’s right! You won’t know if what you fear is real unless you take action. When I think of this step, I immediately think of NBA ball players. I am often mesmerized by how they continuously overcome their fear simply by shooting the ball. Sometimes they make the shot, sometimes they don’t, but no one will know his potential (including him) unless he ACTS and shoots the ball. If he misses what’s the worst that could happen? He gets booed for 5 seconds? The point I am trying to make here is, you will never realize your full potential, unless you embrace your fears and ACT against them.

5. Get support. Whenever you take on something new, like starting a business, it can be a terrifying experience. When you take on something not knowing where you will end up, your little gremlin may appear just to discourage you. He will say things like, “You can’t do this; you are fooling yourself.” Or “You need to focus on your children, not some dream.” You do not have to battle your gremlin alone. There are people out there who are full of encouraging words. Seek them out among your family and friends or among a coach or mentor. Getting support and encouragement from others will give you the strength and focus you need to ignore your gremlin and move forward. The purpose of your gremlin is to keep you from walking in your destiny. Don’t give him this power! Learn how to work with your fear and face your SUCCESS!
